Extra Curricular Activities

Beginner Band (grade 3-6)   
This activity is for students who are interested in learning a new instrument, including flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, and percussion.  This year-long group meets twice a week outside of school hours and focuses on foundational skills to ensure future success.

Intermediate Band (grade 4-8)
This activity is for students who have at least one year experience on their instrument.  Students focus on the development of skills such as sight reading, techniques, articulation, musicality and how to blend sounds as a group. 

Concert Band (grade 6-12)
This activity is for students who have developed necessary skills thoroughly and can sufficiently perform in a group.  Students focus on more advanced music from various genres and styles, such as jazz, classical, popular, musicals, etc. 

ACAMIS Cultural Convention (grade 6-12)

As part of the Association for China and Macau International Schools (ACAMIS), I have organized a group of students, ranging from 10-30 students, to attend this convention every year.  This convention often includes workshops for band, choir, photography, dance, theatre, computer science, and many more.  The latest event was in Nanjing March 2018, with 26 students in attendance. 

Arts Week

Arts Week happens in April of each year to celebrate the dedication and commitment the students have demonstrated throughout the year towards the arts. This includes bands, choirs, ensembles, dance, drama, visual arts, photography, design, etc. There are various events throughout the week, such as Concerts, Instrument petting zoo, display of artwork, featured created music and artwork in the daily announcements, creating and selling of stickers, etc.
