"I found Ms.Godkin’s classroom to be very organized and conducive to quality music education. Both classes were structured with enriching daily warm-up exercises... What also impressed me is that Ms. Godkin not only selected appropriate literature for her ensembles, but she took the time to arrange the music to fit her specific instrumentation needs. This effort alone is not a small task, and is most often not even considered by the countless school band and orchestra directors who I have met over my career."

“What I really like about 9-10 ISNS music program is that it is different from ordinary music programs outside of ISNS. Before joining ISNS, I was in a non-IB school. The music program there was basically memorizing music theories just like a test. However, the 9-10 music program in ISNS is applying music theories into performing and composing. In other words, it is much more practical. Hence, i had a lot fun while more effectively learning about music theories.”

“Grade 9-10 ISNS music program helped me to improve my communicating and thinking IB attributes though group assessments that require performing an original piece according to our own understanding of it. Hence, I was able to apply communicating and thinking IB attributes into other subjects. If you like music, I highly encourage you to try out at least once. Also, since Mr. Boyd and Ms Godkin like interacting with students, feel free to ask questions to them. They like enthusiastic music students.”
“I find the experience as a DP Music student at ISNS rewarding. Through research, composition, and performance, I have developed a greater ability to express myself through music. During the two years of studying the DP music course, Ms.Godkin and all the other art teachers supported and encouraged me, providing me with the best environment to work on each project. Although the DP Music course involves some written analysis of music apart from composing and performing, it is a good choice for anyone who seeks to explore their creativity and develop their skills in music”
